  • Physics help, please! 10 points best.?

    A 15.5 gram piece of putty traveling fast at 425 m/s hits a 15 kg mass suspended in air by a thin thread. The piece of putty sticks to the mass and causes thread to break launching the mass and putty combination into projectile motion. The mass and putty falls a distance of 3.35 m to the ground.

    A.) The system flies off horizontally a distance of 3.35 m to the ground in the vertical direction. How far in the x-direction did it fall?

    B) Use the conservation of mechanical energy to calculate the speed of the system as it hits the ground.

  • Please Help! 10 points best!?

    Two football players collide head on in midair, moving along the same horizontal direction, while trying to catch a thrown football. The first player is 94 kg and has an initial velocity of 5.95 m/s(in the positive direction), while the second player is 117 kg and has an initial velocity of -3.4 m/s

    What is their velocity in the horizontal direction just after impact if they cling together, in meters per second?

  • Please Help! I only have one question! Part 3 only?

    Suppose the mass of a loaded elevator is 1250 kg.

    a.) What force, in newtons, must be supplied by the elevator's cable to produce an acceleration of 0.715 m/s^s upwards against a 205-N frictional force?-- ANS 12951.25--

    b.) How much work, in joules, is done by the cable in lifting the elevator 19 m? --ANS 246073.75--

    c.) What is the final speed, in meters per second, of the elevator if it starts from rest?

    I just need help with part c, please and thank you!

  • Physics Help!?

    A block of mass m = 0.23 kg is set against a spring with a spring constant of k1 = 684 N/m which has been compressed by a distance of 0.1 m. Some distance in front of it, along a frictionless surface, is another spring with a spring constant of k2 = 119 N/m.

    ----Now assume friction is present on the surface in between the ends of the springs at their equilibrium lengths, and the coefficient of kinetic friction is μk = 0.5. If the distance between the springs is x = 1 m, how far, d2 in meters, will the second spring now compress?

  • Physics, please help? Thank you, 10pts.?

    A toy gun uses a spring with a force constant of 295 N/m to propel a 8.5-g steel ball. Assuming the spring is compressed 7.6 cm and friction is negligible, answer the following questions:

    Randomized Variables

    k = 295 N/m

    m =8.51 g

    d1 = 7.6 cm

    Part (a) What is the magnitude of the force, in newtons, that is needed to compress the spring?

    Part (b) What is the maximum height, in meters, to which the ball can be shot?

    Part (c) What is the gun's maximum range, in meters, on level ground?

  • I'm not sure what equation to use that uses both diameter and velocity. Help please, thank you for your time.?

    A car is driving along a circular track of diameter d = 0.95 km at a constant speed of v = 24 m/s.

    (c) Write an expression for the minimum coefficient of friction between the car's tires and the road that is required in order to keep the car going in a circle in terms of the given parameters.
