Hey guys.

I'm in the middle of doing some Introductory Physics, and I got stuck on this one problem related to the direction of torque as it relates to a diver on a diving board.

Essentially, the diving board is lied out so that the bolt is on the left on the diving board (opposite to the diver), the fulcrum is in the middle, and the diver (preparing to dive) is on the right on the diving board (opposite to the bolt).

Considering the diving board as the object and the bolt contact point as the rotation axis, you are asked to find the sign of torque due to

1) the fulcrum;

2) the force of gravity on the board; and

3) the (net) torque about the bolt contact point

You are given three options for each question

A) Positive

B) 0

C) Negative

I realize that the sign of torque is indicative of whether the motion around the rotation axis is going to be following a clock-wise motion or counter clock-wise motion, but I can't seem to figure out what direction it is as it related to the rotational axis.

Also, if you were to consider the fulcrum as the rotational axis, then what would the sign of torque be due to:

1) the bolt?

The weight of adult male beagles are normally distributed, with a mean of 25 pounds and a standard deviation of 4 pounds.

1. If 75 beagles are randomly selected, then approximately how many are expected to weigh more than 30 pounds?

(I know how to set up the distribution graph, but I am unsure of how to make this calculation)

hey my mom doesnt trust me owning a motorcycle because she thinks its too fast and will get me killed. I'm not implying that it won't, im just wonderin if theres a motorcycle/bike that only reaches up to bout 25-30mls an hour...I know there are those little minibike things but when i looked at them their really small and i would prefer somtin that i could actaully fit on....so if u have any suggestions or know somtin towards wat im talkin bout..please let me know cause i cant find anythin

We have to put words in Past Participle form, and sometimes she will switch it up and say "Present Perfect". I understand a little how to put words in that form but I still don't understand what it means. Any geniuses out there?
